On the island of Skopelos you can find traditional products from women’ s cooperatives. They can be used as favors for your wedding. They are unique creations rich in nutrients but they are also a wonderful keepsake for you and your guests.

Skopelos honey  has excellent quality, rich aroma and taste. The rich flora of the island, which consists of numerous wild plants, shrubs and herbs in conjunction with forest trees, offers the advantage of its diversity, in terms of taste and aroma. The local production comes from honeydew excretions (forest honey) and flowers (flower honey).

Most of the forest honey is from pine trees  which they are planted around the island, and the chestnut. This type of honey does not crystallize and has a high nutritional value due to the high content of trace elements (potassium, sodium, magnesium, iron, etc.). The honey from heather flowers, strawberry, wild clover, bramble and wild herbs such as thyme, oregano, sage, rosemary and more.

There are currently about 15 beekeepers in Skopelos, about 2,000 cells, which have seen throughout the countryside. Beekeepers move their hives from place to place and from side to side to take advantage of the blooming season. In general, the harvest of honey is made immediately after the feeding period to ensure optimum flavor.

In areas like Glossa and Klima growing almond was one of the main crops in Skopelos. Almonds are the raw material for local characteristic sweets. The most famous and appropriate sweets as wedding favors are: Haimalia & Amigdalato (sweets, made with chopped peeled almonds and sugar in syrup ) and Rozedes (made from grated almonds, sugar and fermented with rosewater. Then sprinkled with sugar).

As for the traditional folk art shops you will find beautiful handmade pottery, weaving and embroidery.
